PARADISE MONTESSORI PRESCHOOL IS AN INDEPENDENT
PRIVATE SCHOOL APPROVED BY MANITOBA EDUCATION
Our
goal is to give the student a chance to explore the environment at his
or her own pace and to encourage the child to become independent, improving
self-confidence and self-esteem, while developing their social, intellectual,
and academic skills.
"Scientific
observation has established that education is not what the teacher gives;
education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by the human individual,
and is acquired not by listening to words but by experiences upon the environment.
The task of the teacher becomes that of preparing a series of motives of
cultural activity, spread over a specially prepared environment, and then
refraining from obtrusive interference. Human teachers can only help
the great work that is being done, as servants help the master. Doing
so, they will be witnesses to the unfolding of the human soul and to the
rising of a New Man who will not be a victim of events, but will have the
clarity of vision to direct and shape the future of human society."

Holidays
& Celebrations
Regular
school holidays are observed, including Christmas, Spring Break, and summer
vacation. Holidays are celebrated in each environment at the discretion
of the classroom teachers. Halloween, Valentine's Day, Christmas,
and Hanukkah are celebrated with little treats/cards. Crafts may
also be made according to the specified holiday. Birthdays are celebrated
on the child's birthday, and parents are welcome to send treats to share
with the children. Please note: foods containing nuts, or nut-related
products, are not allowed in the school or on the playground.
No
School / Cancellation
School
closures due to bad weather generally occur only during the winter season.
Should there be a major storm, please call the school at (204) 832-0866.
A recorded message will indicate whether classes have been cancelled or
not. Your child's teacher will also contact you to advise of any
cancellations.
Annual
Fundraiser
Paradise
Montessori Preschool is an independent, private organization. Our
revenue is generated from tuition fees and donations. As such, fundraising
is a very important part of our school and we hold one major fundraiser
during the Winter Holiday Season. We appreciate the support of the
families of the school.
Communications
Information
about classroom activities, special events, meetings, etc. is communicated
via a class note and postings on the bulletin boards. All announcements
will be placed in your child's cubbie. Please be sure to check it
regularly as this is our primary means of keeping you advised of relevant
events and special notices. School calendars are forwarded each month.
Emergencies
In
the event of an accident or sudden onset of illness, the Paradise Montessori
Preschool will seek proper care for your child. Individual emergency
instructions on file in our office are consulted and the parents are contacted
immediately. To ensure prompt medical treatment is received, should
it be necessary to transport your child to the nearest hospital, the Consent
Statement, signed at the time of acceptance into Paradise Montessori Preschool,
will accompany the student. It is imperative that you keep the emergency
contact information up to date at all times.
